Why Rejection is Hard, But Necessary

I was just catching up on some reading and found this recent article from the Guardian that shares some insights that I needed to see.

The article ends with “[a] rejection doesn’t mean you failed. It means you tried. Try again.” How many of us have tried something, but then experienced that sense of failure and then given up? I know I have.

What this article helped me put into perspective was that the one or two times that I’ve tried something without success, doesn’t come close to the thousands of times others have tried something unsuccessfully. Examples like JK Rowling (Harry Potter), James Dyson (vacuums, hand dryers), George Orwell (author) to name a few. They didn’t give up, they just tried again … until they succeeded. And they did succeed!

We all need to keep trying again, learning from each time we are rejected and improving on how we try next time. It’s a lesson I needed and will continue to work on as I continue my growth.
